Print Audit Assessor Usage Soars in 2009

Office equipment dealers are opening doors and closing sales by using Print Audit Assessor’s detailed analysis tools to pinpoint new opportunities

CALGARY, ALBERTA (May 27, 2009) – In the current economic climate, office equipment dealers are seeking better differentiators while potential customers are looking for hard evidence that any new office equipment they purchase will pay off. Print Audit Assessor provides a working solution for both of these vendor and customer concerns – and its effectiveness has been proven by its steadily increasing popularity. In the past 5 months, Assessor usage has reached record heights, with installations growing by 40 percent over last year.

Developed by leading print management company Print Audit, the Assessor gives dealers the ability to provide potential customers with an extremely detailed and accurate snapshot of their printing environment. Unlike rapid assessment tools, Print Audit Assessor is able to gather comprehensive workflow data that includes who is printing, what documents are being printed, the size of each job and more.

"Using Print Audit software allows us to begin a fact-based conversation with our customers about their actual, not perceived document usage,” said Boyd Smith, President of TechKnowledgey Inc. “Using Print Audit gave our suggestions for change validation, and we were able to secure an 11-unit deal based on the results Print Audit discovered in the field.”

“Office equipment dealers and their customers are struggling in today’s economy,” said John MacInnes, President and CEO of Print Audit. “The Assessor helps both parties: the dealer has an advantage over their competitors as well as a complete map of their client’s needs. The client is given proof that they need new equipment and that they will have a quick return on investment.”

Currently, Print Audit is offering a Guaranteed Deal Package that will allow vendors to try the Assessor program risk free. In addition, dealers can earn a free Assessor package for each assessment they perform that leads to the sale of a Print Audit product.

A range of features on the WorkCentre 6400 enhance office worker productivity. The device can copy, scan or fax even while it is printing; the Print Around feature detects print jobs waiting for additional resources and prints the next job in the queue; and full functioned scanning includes a wide range of document capabilities which enable automation of repetitive job processes. Frequently printed documents can be stored on the device for reprinting later, and the device's ability to convert paper documents to text searchable PDFs allows for easy archiving, organizing and searching.

With a price of $4,599 the WorkCentre 6400 copies, scans and faxes, and delivers prints up to 30 pages per minute in color and 35ppm in black and white. The device's automatic two-sided functionality means reduced paper use when copying, printing and faxing helping organizations lower costs and boost efficiency.

Thanks to its icon-based, 203mm, color touch-screen with help screens, the WorkCentre 6400 is also extremely easy to use.

The WorkCentre 6400 has a range of document security features: print jobs can be held in a queue until released by a PIN; after every job, image data in the device's memory can be erased either automatically or on request; and a password can be required before incoming faxes are printed. The device's compliance with the latest security protocols, 802.1x, IPSec for both IPv4 and IPv6, means that networks are more secure.

Xerox's Extensible User InterfaceTM, allows independent software vendors and developers to create customized applications that are readily accessible from the large color touch screen, saving users valuable time and simplifying recurring tasks.

The WorkCentre 6400 is available in either desktop or floor-standing configuration and with a finisher that collates and staples sets of up to 30 pages or offset stacks jobs for "grab and go" convenience.

Samsung CLP-770ND Review

- Samsung of Korea announced a new high speed color laser printer, the CLP-770ND offering:

- 4 tandem OPC drum design
- Top speed of 32ppm
- 720MHz processor in the built-in print controller
- Optional 80GB hard drive
- 11 second first color page out time
- 4 line LCD display
- Uses Samsugn universal print driver
- 256MB RAM (can upgrade to 768MB RAM)
- A4 design, letter/legal only
- 600 sheet paper capacity standard
- 120K/month maximum duty cycle

The CLP-770ND is feature-rich. Its high toner yield of up to 7,000 pages, ability to handle large volumes of paper (up to 1,100 pages) and impressive 120,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle makes the CLP-770ND a highly versatile device that meets the requirements of the most demanding of office environments. The substantial toner yield and large monthly duty cycle contribute to a competitive total cost of ownership. The CLP-770ND’s capabilities can be further enhanced with optional wireless connectivity.

The printer is easy to use, owing to its four-line LCD control panel and Compass Navigation system. The LCD panel makes it simple to read messages during the printing process, such as system alerts or status updates. The Compass Navigation system requires less buttons on the control panel, making it simpler and more intuitive to use the menu. This reduces the amount of training users need on the device and minimises trouble-shooting time.

In order to help corporate enterprises better manage their printing environment, the CLP-770ND is integrated with Samsung’s exclusive software solution, SyncThru™ Web Admin Service. With this solution, IT managers can easily and remotely manage the performance of a network printer, and reduce time to maintain devices with the addition of the hard disk drive and additional solutions including SyncThru™ Job Accounting and CounThru™.

“Enhancing our product portfolio to meet the needs of business customers is a key to extending our leadership in the printing marketplace,” said Graham Long, Vice President of Samsung’s European Printing Operation. “With this versatile new device, we have introduced features to meet customer requirements for high-end colour printing in the corporate office environment.”
