Kyocera Mita America Wins Most Reliable Multifunctional Product Line in Industry
Kyocera Sets Record of Winning “Most Reliable” More than Any Other Manufacturer in Past Decade of OPA Survey
FAIRFIELD, N.J. – November 5, 2009 – Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, is proud to again be named the Most Reliable Monochome multifunctional product (MFP) line, in a recent survey of service managers and dealers. Kyocera Mita’s products earned a total overall reliability score of 8.4 (out of 10), as compared to the industry average of 7.9. Kyocera Mita has won this particular award more than any other manufacturer – in three of the past five years – while this survey has been conducted by Office Products Analyst, a publication of Industry Analysts, Inc.
“Based on our research, the Kyocera monochrome MFP line is the most reliable brand available today. Kyocera has won this honor more than any other manufacturer in the past ten years, and we congratulate them on their outstanding performance,” said Andy Slawetsky, President, Industry Analysts, Inc. “The feedback from service technicians clearly indicates that Kyocera must be a top consideration for customers when selecting a black and white MFP.”
OPA conducted in-depth telephone interviews with 135 dealer service managers throughout dealerships nationwide. Responses encompassed 44,462 multifunctional units. Copier dealer service managers were questioned on the products they work closely with on a daily basis. Eighty three models from seven manufacturers were studied and assessed on performance criteria such as mean number of installs, average monthly page volume, preventive maintenance (PM) cycle, and average pages between calls.
“Kyocera Mita has made extraordinary strides, amidst the business challenges all of us face, to introduce a record number of new MFPs that extend and represent our traditional hallmarks of superior performance, ultra-reliability and an industry leading lowest total cost of ownership,” said Mike Pietrunti, president and CEO, Kyocera Mita America. “We take great pride in our technical excellence and the significance of earning such an honor determined by our loyal dealers. This most recent survey by Industry Analysts, Inc. is a clear testament of our efforts.”

"In today's business work environment, small offices and workgroups are challenged to find solutions that address their high productivity demands and limited budget," said Richard Heckelmann, product and solutions marketing manager, printers for Kyocera Mita America. "The FS-C1020MFP exemplifies Kyocera's commitment to provide user's with devices that work harder and help them become successful in today's competitive marketplace. Notes from Art:
A few things you should know about this unit. Ricoh and other manufacturers have also relabled this unit. The toner cartridge is an all in one cartridge, meaning that the cartridges houses the drum, cleaning unit, and toner. Cost for color is about $100 per cartridge, thus the cost per page for each color cartridge is .05 (5 cents). Black is about $50 per cartridge, thus the cost per page for black is .025 (two and a half cents). When making color copies or color prints based on 5% coverage per color, this unit will cost you an astonishing .175 (seventeen and a half cents per page). The thermal transfer and fuser are rated for the life of the unit. You also need to replace a waster toner container about every 25,000 pages.
Here's my pet peeve about this unit, Kyocera claims a max volume monthly duty cycle of 50,000 pages! Huh??? What? If you did make 50,000 pages on this device in one month, you would have paid $8,750 for the consumables and would probably have to buy a new unit, it would also take 40 hours to make those prints. Good for the very low volume user (home office), not so good for office work groups. The cost per page for color is too high!
